Experienced light northerly winds and fine weather to Hokitika, from thence light variable winds and pleasant weather. „ , , We take the following from the “ Hobart Town Mercury,” of the 11th:—The clipper barque Mary Blair, the recent purchase of Messrs Belbin and Dowdell, and Captain Riddle, who commands her, came round from Lucas’ slip on Saturday forenoon. The vessel has been newly coppered, and thoroughly overhauled under the superintendence of Lloyds’ surveyor, who inspected her bolts, treenails, &c, and expressed himself perfectly satisfied. The cabins of the vessel were newly painted, as also her masts. The Mary Blair on hauling alongside the wharf was visited by a large number of persons, and the general expression of opinion was that she is a very line specimen of a clipper. The vessel will be loaded with a cargo of timber, &c, sailing for Lyttelton, New Zealand, about Wednesday ; thence she will proceed to China, and will afterwards, most probably, be placed by her owners in the China tea traffic.
