Mails close at Chief Post Office for the following places, as under, subject to necessary alterations: — Wednesday, October 20. For Port Chalmers and Dunedin, per Taranaki at 11.35 a.m. ; late letters, 11.55 a.m. ; railway, 12.25 train. For the Northern Ports, of New Zealand, per Phcebe, at 1.55 p.m. ; late letters, 2.15 p.m. ; railway, 2.30 p.m. Thursday, October 21. For Dunedin, per Taupo, at 11.35 a.m. ; late letters, 11.5> a.m. ; railway, 12.25 p.m. train. For Levuka (Fiji), Wellington, Napier, and Auckland, per Star of the South, at 11.35 a.m. ; late letters, 11.55 a.m.; railway, 12.25 p.m. train. Saturday, October 23. Mails per Taranaki will close as under : For United Kingdom, via San Francisco, at 9 p.m. For the Continent of Europe, Sandwich Islands, America, British and Foreign West Indies, &c, &c, at 8.30 p.m. For all the Northern Ports' of New Zealand, at 9 p.m. Newspaper box will close at 8 p.m. Registered letters and money orders, at 5 p.m. For United Kingdom via Southampton and Brindisi, on Monday, the 25th instant.
