♦ Tff/g DAY. [from our dunedin correspondent.] Dunedin, Oct. 13. In Banco, a motion was made by the Soli-citor-General for an injunction in the Princes street arbitration case, which was granted. The award was disallowed. Mr Justice Williams decided that the Corporation had no power to transfer its discretion to a third party. Leave to appeal was granted. {Per Press Agency.} Auckland, Oct. 13. A Hokianga telegram reports a brig stranded, name unknown; no sign of crew aboard. The Magellan Cloud, which has been fitted out for a twelve months' cruise by a local whaling association, sailed to-day. SJie will cruise chiefly on the coast, and as far as the Chatham Islands. Dunedin, Oct. 13. At a meeting of the City Council last evening, the Lighting Committee recommended that the Council should offer Hankey £43,500 for the purchase of the gas works, if he should refuse this, the Council should erect new works. The Palmerston Times, a new weekly newspaper, appeared yesterday for the first time. Wellington, Oct. 13. Sailed —The Phoebe for Lyttelton and the south.
