There were very heavy gusts from the N.W. during the nijjht of the 17th. but, although the Coq du Village drove a short distance, there was not. the smallest casualty among the shipping. All yesterday the wind continued to blow in heavy squalls at intervals, but at 5 p.m. it shifted to the south-west. ARRIVED. October 9—Taupo, s.s, 461 tons, Macfarlane, from JJunedin. Passengers—Miss Gibson, Mrs Davis, Mrs Mclntyre, Mr and Mrs Greson, Mr and Mrs Hanmer, Messrs Murray, Deverell, Gib-on (2), Du Ville, Seargent. Steerage : Four, and thirty for North. October 9—E. U. Cameron, 41 tons, from Akaroa. October 9—Taranaki, s. s, 299 tons, Lloyd, from Dunedin. Passengers—Saloon : Mrs Stewart and family, Miss Cromnie, Messrs McNair, Green, Speed, Bayliss ; Nicoll, Brind, Smith, and 17 for North. Steerage : Messrs Russell, Christie, Robert, Priestly, White, Jones, Mullens, and 9 for North. October 9—Ethel, brigantine, McLeod, from Kaipara. October 9—Clematis, brig, 294 tons, Garth, from Hobart Town. Passengers—Mr and Mrs Cawthern and 4 children, Messrs Leatch, Smith, Rait, C. and R. Lindsay, and Gadd. CLEARED. October 9 —Taupo, s.s, 461 tons, Macfarlane, for Northern Ports. SAILED. October 9—Clyde, s.s, 27 tons, McConville, for Saltwater Creek. October 9 —Blairgowrie, ship, 15"0 tons, Darke, for Calcutta. October 9—White Rose, ship, 1556 tons, Jarvis, for Bluff. October 9—Emperor, brig, 284 tons, Cleary, for Newcastle. Passengers—Mrs Cleary, 2 children and servant. October 9 —ltaly, barque, Gourlay, for Hobart Town. The Fawn, brig, broixght the following passengers —Mr Powell and Masterßrownell.
