CHEISTCHUECH. Wednesday, October 6. (Before G. L. Mellish, Esq., R.M.) Drunk and Disorderly.—Daniel Wheldon was fined. 10s and. cab hire, and Elizabeth Price 10s. Breaking Panes of Glass, &c. —Archibald Knowles, charged with breaking a number of panes of glass and the panel of a door in Mr Brown's house, Colombo street south, and otherwise misbehaving himself, was fined £3, and ordered to pay 30s, amount of damage done. Lunacy erom Drink. —James Crawford, who had been seen at one o'clock that morning by constable Hastie, attempting to get on one of the buttresses of Victoria bridge, and subsequently walk backward and forwards on the bridge, he being at the time only half dressed and in a state of semilunacy, apparently suffering from the effects of drink, was remanded to enable the police to communicate with his friends. LYTTELTON. Tuesday, October 5. f Before J. T. House and F. D. Gibson, Esqs, J.P.'s.] Drunkenness and Assault. Peter Maher, a seaman belonging to the ship Lactura, was brought up charged with this offence. Mr H. N. Nalder appeared for the captain. The evidence went to show that the accused, who was in a state of drunkenness, had attempted to strike the captain with an oar while going off to the ship. The Bench sentenced accused to seven days' imprisonment. Stowaway —Henry Beveins, arrested by Constable Gilchrist, charged with stowing away on board the s.s. Taranaki on her passage from Wellington, was remanded until to-day. Lunacy.—John Handley, arrested by Constable Haywood charged with this offence, was remanded for medical examination.
