AN ECCENTRIC CENTENARIAN.
At the Aberfeldy railway station, n ar Perth, may be seen vending his napery wares a pedlar named Peter Feggans, who the other week attained his 105th year. He is a native of the Emerald Isle, and retains in a wonderful degree all his faculties, and possesses no small share of Hibernian wit. He went to reside in Scotland about sixty years ago, and has since then never worn a coat, as he thinks a sleeved vest suits him better. He gave up smoking about the same time, and took to chewing, which he affirms agrees best with his constitution. He imbibes half a glass of whisky three or four times each day, and has done so for the past fifty years. A report was circulated a short time ago that he had died ; when Peter was informed of it his remark, similar to that which a fellow-countryman is said to have made in the same circumstances, was—“ Yes, but I know’d it was a lie, whenever I heerd it.”
