MAGISTRATES’ COURTS.
CHRISTCHURCH. Friday, September 17. [Before T. AV. Maude, Esq, J.P.] Drunk and Using Obscenr Language.— James Clark, alias the Brasher, a very old offender, against whom there were thirtythree previous convictions since 1865, was brought up on the charge of being drunk and using obscene language in the public street. The accused pleaded hard for one more clumce, when he would at once clear out of the town. On the distinct understanding that he would do so, his Worship gave him a last chance and discharged him. Vagrancy. —Margaret Guerin, who had been found the previous night by Sergeant Wilson sleeping in an outhouse, and whom it was proved had for a long time been leading a disreputable life, and was without a home or lawful means of support, was sentenced to three months’ imprisonment with hard labor as a vagrant.
