MUNICIPAL CONTESTS.
To the Editor of the Globe. Sir, —Your morning contemporary in the report of yesterday's City election, says " The number of votes polled, viz, 2352, was far in excess of the number given at any municipal election yet held. On referring to the returns of previous elections, I find that this is a mistake, as in 1872,2456 votes were polled, and at that time there were considerably less electors on the roll .than at present, the candidates being also two less in number than at yesterday's election. The following was the official return :—Jenkins, 557 ; Ick, 528 ; Williams, 458; Sheath, 374; Crooks, 309; Caygill, 230. Total, 2456. At the election in 1873, 1744 votes were recorded, and in 1875, 1817 votes. Yours, &c, CITIZEN.
