The barque Queen of the Seas, Captain Robinson, hence, arrived at Hobart Town on August 2nd. The brigantine Helen sailed from Timaru for Auckland on the 17th, with 2000 sacks (7500 bushels) wheat. The brigantine Lizzie Guy, timber laden, was reported as coming up the harbor last night at dusk, most probably she has only put into Lyttelton wlndbound, as she sailed from Hokitika for Timaru. The schooner Onward arrived last night from Picton, timber laden. The schooner Gleaner sailed from Greymouth on the 13th for Timaru, timber laden. The brigantine Eliza Firth sailed same day, coal laden, for Melbourne. The steam collier Easby arrived in harbor yesterday morning from Port Chalmers, she sailed in the afternoon for Wellington, Sydney, and NewThe’ s.s. Bruce sailed yesterday for South with a large cargo and nine passengers. The s.s. Otago will arrive to-day from Melbourne via West Coast and Wellington. The Otago sails this evening for Melbourne via South. The little s.s. Clyde arrived from Saltwater Creek yesterday morning with a cargo of tallow and skins for Messrs Miles, Hassal and Co. The ketch Sarah and Mary sailed from Greymouth for this port yesterday with 35,000 feet timber. The schooner Fiery Cross arrived yesterday at Greymouth from Wellington. The clipper barque Mary Blair, after a fine run of twelve days from Newcastle, arrived at the Heads last evening. She brings a cargo of coals. The barque John Knox arrived at the Heads last night, from Sydney, after a long passage of nineteen days. Her imports will appear in our next The iron barque Cora Linn arrived in harbor yesterday from Dunedin. She is a fine vessel, of 468 tons, and will proceed to England or Ireland with wheat, for Messrs P. Cunningham and Co. She left Port Chalmers last Friday at noon, and experienced light S.W. winds for first three hours, and then E.N.E. till Wednesday, when it changed to S.E, Anchored at midnight at the Heads on Wednesday night, weighed at 6 a.m. yesterday, with light N.E. wind, and anchored off the breakwater at 8 a.m. Spoke the Jane Spiers off the Peninsula, bound from Port Chalmers to Wellington. The Cora Linn has 1881 sacks wheat already on board, shipped at Dunedin for the home market, by Messrs P. Cunningham and Co. This grain was sent to Dunedin from Timaru to ballast her on her passage up. The three-masted schooner Alma, which arrived in harbor on Wednesday morning at one o’clock, left Greymouth on August 7th, experienced light N.E. winds for twenty-four hours; then strong N.E. gale to the9th instant; from that date strong S.W. winds; passed Cape Farewell on Tuesday, August 10th; got as far as Cape Campbell, when she encountered a strong gale from the S.S.E.; put into Fort Underwood on Wednesday, August llth, wind bound; left Port Underwood on August 16th, with light southerly winds; passed Cape Campbell on Tuesday last, with a strong northerly wind, which lasted till her arrival as above. The captain reports that the schooner Fiery Cross left Port Underwood on Saturday, August 14th, for Greymouth, and that the schooners Onward and Lizzie Guy were lying in Port Underwood when he left, the former bound for this port and the latter for Timaru. We are pleased to report the safe arrival of the schooner Elibank Castle, one of the vessels which were stranded on the Ninety Mile Beach in the gale of last June. Several attempts to launch her off the beach were made, and finally resulted in success last Sunday morning, when favoured by a smooth sea, she slipped into the water, and was hauled off to her anchor. Preparations for sea were made in a few hours, the locality being anything but a desirable one to sojourn in, and at 5 p.m. she was got under weigh, bowled up the coast before a strong northerly breeze, and arrived in port yesterday evening, just twenty-four hours from the beach. Captain Russell assures us that, notwithstanding her long lay ashore, she has received no damage, but is as sound as the day on which she was launched. At the same time, to render assurance doubly sure, she comes here to be docked for a thorough overhauling. Messrs McMeokan ami Blackwoofl’s fine steamer Omeo, Captain Henry William Chatfield, arrived at the Gladstone Pier at 7.45 a.m. yesterday. Consequent upon the advent of the company’s new steamer Eingarooma at Melbourne, a re-arrange-nicnt of the commands of the steamers Omeo and Otago has taken place—Captain Johu McLean, the senior master of the fleet, has been appointed to the Eingarooma, whilst Captain Cald<r, late of the Omeo, has moved a step up into the Otago. His position in the Omeo has been filled by Captain Chatfield, late chief officer of the Claud Hamilton, an old servant of the company’s, and a most deserving officer and skilful seaman. We congratulate him upon his promotion. Amongst the Omeo’s officers is Air Jago, one of our old acquaintances, and long time purser in the company’s employ. Eighteen months ago Mr Jago came here in the Alhambra, since then he has been running in the Adelaide trade. We thank him for the Omeo’s report and for the delivery of our Melbourne exchanges. As usual, the Omeo has brought a large cargo, 150 tons, for this port, On this trip she left Hobson’s Bay at 2.30 p.m. on the 7th inst., cleared the Heads at C p.m., and passed the Sisters at 6 p.m. on the following day. Experienced strong S.E. winds and a heavy sea across, and passed the Solander at 6 a.m. on the 14th, arriving at the Bluff at 2 p.m. Disembarked passengers and cargo, and left at 9.30 p.m.; had strong northerly winds down the coast, and arrived at Port Chalmers at 1.30 p.m. on the 15th inst.; left again at 5.15 a.m. on the 18th, experienced light airs and fine weather, arriving as above. She leaves for Melbourne via North to-day at 1 p.m.
