The s.s Wellington sailed for Auckland, via East Coast, yesterday, at 3 p.m. The ship Oriana has had to stop discharging, till she has taken in more ballast. The Lanarkshire sailed at 10 a.m. yesterday morning, for Oregon, British Columbia. The S.W. breeze lasted till alter the pilot left her at noon, when she was two miles outside the Heads. We hear from Captain Woods she made a good offing before the N.E. sprang up. A barque was signalled last night from the southward, and will no doubt prove to be the Cora Linn, that sailed from Dunedin for this port on the 13th. The s.s Bruce left Port Chalmers on the 16th insb, at 6 p.m.; experienced strong N.E. winds and high sea with thick fog; arrived at Timaru atlO a.m. 17th, discharged portion of .Timaru cargo, and left at 5 p.m. for Akaroa; arrived at 4 a.m. 18th, discharged 12 tons cargo, and left 5.10 a.m., arriving in Lyttelton at 9.15 a.m. yesterday. She sails to-morrow. The n w steam launch for the use of the Customs and Immigration Departments, which arrived by the Phcebe on Tuesday, aud has been fully described in a former issue, was floated shortly after her arrlvaj, and moored to a buoy off the Gladstone Pier. She is at present in charge of the contractors, Messrs Fraser aud Tinne, of Auckland, who are waiting the arrival of their engineer from Dunedin to fit her out. After this is done she will be inspected by Mr Croll, the Government Inspector of Machinery, who will, if satislicd, hand her over to the Customs authorities.
