The schooner Marmion was accommodated with a berth at No 3 wharf on Saturday, and commenced to discharge. , , . , Captain Bowton Informs us that the brigantine Kliza Mary was loading at Kaipara wlieu the Marmion left. Good work was done at the Gladstone pier on Saturday, when the Albion discharged 40 tons cargo and took in 100 in four hours. The Tararua discharged 100 and took in 70, and sailed at 6 p.m. The schooners Atlantic for Waikato, Alert for Hokitika, Jessie for Wellington, and ketcli Sarah and Mary for Greymouth, all produce laden, cleared at the customs on Saturday. Captain Gibson arrived at Lyttelton by the s.s Tararua on Saturday. Flags were hoisted on most of the vessels in harbor in honor of his arrival; and the Emperor (brig), Prince Alfred (barqueutme), and Pet. Queensland, and Adelphoi (barques), were specially noticeable for their gay decorations. A party of friends met Captain Gibson at the steamer to welcome him back. , „ - , The s.s. Hawea, Captain Wheeler, left Onehunga at 3.30 p.m. on Tuesday; arrived at Taranaki at 7 a.m. Wednesday; left at 12.30 p.m, and arrived at Nelson at 3 a.m. on Thursday ; left at 4 p m, and anchored in Croiselles harbor, owing to threatening weather; left on Friday, at 7 a.m.: passed through the French Pass at 8 a.m.; arrived at Pictou at 11.45 a.m ; left at 12.18 p.m, and arrived at, Wellington at 4.45 p.m.; left on Saturday afternoon, at 3.30, arriving at Lyttelton at 8 p.m. yesterday, and sailed for Dunedin at 2.40 p.m. Messrs McMeckan and Blackwood’s fine steamer Albion cleared Port Phillip Heads at 5.15 p.m. on the 21st July, passed the Sisters at 10.45 a.m. on the 22nd instant, and arrived off Hokitika at 4 a,m. on the 27th July; left again at 3‘30 p.m. same day, and arrived at Greymouth at 5.15 p.m; left at 6.30 p.m., and arrived at Nelson at 12.30 p.m. on the 28th, averaging over twelve knots per hour for the entire distance from Hokitika; left Nelson at 5.30 same afternoon, and arrived at Wellington on the 20th instant at 5.20 a.m. Experienced light airs aud calms for the first two days, and strong S.E. gale with heavy sea during the rest of the passage, from thence to Stephens Island light variable winds, a alight S.E. breeze from there to Wellington; left Wellington at 2.20 p.m. on the 30th instant. jExperienced line weather, arriving in harbor at 5.10 a.m. on Saturday. She sailed for Melbourne, via Dunedin, at 0 p.m. the same day. Messrs McMeckan aud Blackwoods E.M. s.s. Tararua, Captain Clark, arrived in harbor on Saturday, at forty-live minutes after noon. The Tararua received the mail bugs for New Zealand from the P. aud O. steamer Nubia on the forenoon of the 23rd inst, aud at 2.15 pm. cast oil from the Sandndge pier and proceeded to sea; passed Port_ Phillip Heads at 5.45 pin, and cleared Banks’ Strait at 3.30 pm. on the 24th; light north-east winds and fine weather attended her across, and at 7 a.m. on the 28th she passed the Solanders; there the weather came in fresh and dirty from south-east, aud so held until her arrival at the Blull at 1.30 pm. the same day; passengers, mails, and cargo were smartly landed, and at 9 pm. she left for Port Chalmers ; she steamed down the coast against a fresh northeast gale, arriving at Port Chalmers at 12.45 pm. on the 29th inst; left at 4 pm. on the 30th, and arrived as above. She sailed lor Melbourne via North at 6 pm. on Saturday." „,, , . We are informed by Captain Cleary, of the brig Emperor, that the following vessels were on the berth at Newcastle when he left, viz, Free Trader American brigantine, Caberfeidh, M. A. Annison, barques, and Fawn brig. . . The s.s. Ladybird, Captain Andrew, arrived at 10.45 a.m. yesterday morning. She sailed from Port Chalmers at 3.30 p.m. on Saturday. The Ladybird sailed North at neon yesterday with the outward ’Frisco mail.
