Cargo : firewood. CLEARED. July 29-Wellington, s.s., 262 tons, Carey, for Northern ports. The Aberdeen clipper ship Countess of Kintore, 737 tons, W. Braddick, commander, arrived in harbour and anchored oil' the breakwater. shortly before nine o'clock this morning. The ship is from Napier, and has already some cargo stowed. Stowe commenced discharging a portion of ber cargo yesterday into lighters, She will be lightened about 50 tons, and then moved into the buoy, where her cargo will be restowed as speedily as possible, when she will at once proceed on bur voyage to London. A barque named the Cora Linn, recently arrived at Otatio from London, is shortly expected from Port Chalmers, having found charter for England. We~Botiee by the " Otago Times" of July 27th, that the Cora Linn had oi'ly 89 tons railway iron to discharge, sifter which she was to ship 200 tons of grain, and then to come on to Lyttelton to fill up the remainder. The first instalment of wheat (750 bags) was transhipped in the barque from the steamer Bruce on the 26th. The fine brig Emperor, Captain Cleary, after a Sassage of 15 days from Newcastle, arrived in arbour at 9 a.m. yesterday with a cargo of coals consigned to H. E. Hargreaves. Captain Cleary reports leaving Newcastle on Tuesday. July 13th, at 3 p.m, accompanied by a light fair wind from the N.W, which continued moderate, varying to S.W. until July 21st. A heavy gale was experienced when within 100 miles from Cape Farewell, varying at times into S.W, which lasted 16 hours, with a heavy confused sea. Cape Farewell Ipit Light was passed on 22nd inst, and the Brothers 3 p.m. same afternoon. Was off Cape Campbell ou Saturday, 24th inst, at 8 a.m, when the wind veered round to the S.S.W.; passed Cape Palliser at 2 p.m. on Saturday, and the Kaikora Peninsnla at 10 a.m. ou July 26tb; sighted Godley Heads Light next day at 1 a.m, and was inside the Heads at daylight yesterday morning. Wlien oil' Ripa Island the wind failing was towed up by the steamer Mullough to a berth at No 2 wharf at. 10 a.m. Was in company with the barques Adelphoi, Queensland, and schooner Mary Melville. The N.Z.S S. Co's favorite s.s. Wellington, Captain Carey, arrived yesterday at 10 a.m. The Surser reports that she left Port Chalmers on Monay, at 4 p.m, and raced with the Alhambra to the Heads, passing the last named vessel; arrived at Oamaru at midnight, took in 1500 sacks grain and 300 of flour for Wellington, and sailed again on Tuesday, at 6.30 p.m. When off Akaroa, at 7 a.m. yesterday morning, sighted s.s. Taupo; arrived here at 10 a.m; thus making the passage from Oamaru in 15i hours. Mr Willcox, the purser, who has furnished us with so many reports and files, proceeds North in her for the last time, as he is to take the Taranaki agency for the company, and we are sure all his Southern friends will join in wishing him prosperity in his new career. The Wellington, after making one more trirj South, proceeds via East Coast to Auckland, where slie will receive a thorongh overhaul and take in new boilers. which will materially add to her speed. She sailed North at 3 p.m. to-day. The s.s. Ladybird, Captain Andrew, arrived and was moored at the Screw File Jetty at 11 a.m, yesterday morning. Left Manakau at 1.30 p.m. on the 24th, arrived at Taranaki at 6 a.m. on the 25th ; landed 20 tons of cargo, 9 passengers, and the mails; left again at 10 a. m, aud got to Nelson at 12.30 a.m. 26th. Here 21 passengers joined her, and she sailed for Picton at 1.30 p.m., arriving there at 9.25 p.m. same day (20th). Left at 1 a.m. on ' 27th; arrived at Wellington at 6.30 a.m,; landed 20 tons of cargo, took on board 28 passengers, and sailed for this port at 4 p.m, arriving as above. Experienced light winds from Manakau to Nelson, thence to Wellington thick weather ; from that port to Lyttelton had light head winds and heavy head sea. We have to thank Mr W. Dougherty, the purser, for files and reports. The barque Especulador, Captain J. Leith. arrived in harbor yesterday at 2 p.m. from Kaipara. She left that port on Monday, July 19th, at noon, experienced heavy N.W. gale aud rain, passed Cape Egmont at noon on the 20th, passed Cape Terawiti at°6 a.m. on the 2lst, from thence had south-west gale; put into Wellington wiud bound at 4 p.m. the same day, left Wellington on 1 ridny, July 23rd, experienced light N.W. winds to Cape Campbell, thence light variable winds, made the Heads on Monday, and arrived as above. The barque Adelphoi arrived in harbor yesterday at 11 a.m. from Newcastle, The captain reports that be left that port on July 13th, experienced
moderate northerly winds; on July 15th had a fresh breeze from fcheS.YV., sighted Cape Farewell on 22nd inst at noon, from thence light variable winds to making Cape Campbell at 4 a.m. on the 21th, thence light northerly winds; was off the Kaikoras on Sunday, the 25th, from that date light N.E. winds till arrival as above. She was berthed at No 1 wharf yesterday, and will commence to discharge this morning-. The barque Queensland arrived at midnight on" Monday at the Heads, and early yesterday morning was towed into a berf li at Peacock's wharf by the s.s Mullough. Captain Grey reports having lett Newcastle on July 13th at 4 p.m. Moderate winds were experienced to Cape Farewell, which was sighted on the 2lst at midnight, thence variable winds and light weather to the Heads, which were sighted on Sunday night, ran inside the Heads, and brought up on Monday night. She brings a cargo of coals consigned to \V. Montgomery and Co. Very general satisfaction is expressed by the passengers with the arrangements on board the Oriana, and in spite of her long passage she is a very popular ship. Captain Guthrie and hisofiieers seem to have been indefatigable in their efforts to make all on board comfortable and happy.
