MAGISTRATES’ COURTS.

CHRISTCHURCH. Monday, July 26. (Before G, L. Mellish, Esq, R.M.)

Drunk and Disorderly. —For this offence the following persons were fined —Geo. Murray, 10s; John Harrison, 10s; Henry Wilson, who appeared in Court in a state of intoxication, was committed for contempt of Court; Andrew Aklie fined 5s ; Titus Evans, 5s ; Isaac E. Parker, 10s.

Drunk whilst in .Charge of a Vehicle. —William Chisnall, charged with this offence, was fined 10s. Lunacy from Drink. —John Roberts, arrested by Sergeant Gatwood for this offence, was remanded to Lyttelton for eight days for medical treatment. Wife Desertion. —George Osbourn appeared to answer to this charge. Ann Osbourn, wife of defendant, stated that she had applied to him to maintain her, and he had refused to do so. Defendant stated that his wife had lately came out of prison, and she had applied to him when she was in company with two prostitutes. He had never refused to provide a home for her. Samuel Osbourn, a son of the defendant’s, gave evidence as to the way in which his mother was in 'the habit of serving her children. His Worship made an order against Osbourn for his wife’s support, and ordered him to pay 10s per week into Court,
