CHRISTCHURCH. Saturday, July 24. (Before G. L. Mellisli, Esq., R.M.) Obtaining Goods by False Pretences. —Harriett Kilminster was charged with obtaining seven shillings' worth of perfumery from Mr Roberts, Papanui road, on a cheque for £l, which had been proved valueless on being presented at the bank. J. Judge, who gave the accused the cheque, said it was unlike his usual writing, and that was why the bank would not cash it. The cheque was perfectly good. Charge dismissed. Illegally Pawning.—lsrael Luke was charged on remand from Ashburton with illegally pawning a watch, and remanded until Wednesday.)
