(Press Telegraph Agency.) Auckland, July 20. Arrived—Star of the South, from Fiji. The Fiji Times expresses a belief that the new Governor has been so favorably impressed with Levuka as to retain the capital there. The official departments are said to show signs already of improved control. The Governor is making trips to the various parts of the group, and has been cordially received. The news is generally unimportant. A petition is in circulation to the Assembly from the publicans, praying for the opening of hotels from one to three and seven to ten on Sundays. The Union Sash and Door Company has declared a dividend at the rate of 20 per cent. A petition is being prepared in favour of the abolition of the native right to vote at the elections of European representatives. Wellington, July 21. ■ Mr Holloway, of the Agricultural Labourers Association, and Mr Burton, of Taranaki, have been appointed emigration agents for New Zealand by the General Government. Dunedin, July 21. The Government have decided to open five thousand acres for settlement in the Mount Benger district.
