CHRISTCHUECH. Monday, July 12. (Before G. L. Mellish, Esq.> R.M.) Drunk and Disorderly.—The following inebriates were each fined sa:—R. A. Waleotj Mary Smith, Isaac Searle, Patrick Laffray, and William Herbert. Matthew Longdon, who had been several times before the Court, was fined 60s or fourteen days. Obtaining Goods by False Pretences. —John Williams and Richard Madigan were charged on warrant with obtaining a number of cornsacks to the value of £6O from Chas. Kiver, of Christchurch. The landlady left the bar for a few minutes, and while away the accused, W. Smith, had taken three shillings from the boy and left the hotel. The accused, Oharlea Smith, was acquitted, and Wm Smith was sentenced to one month's imprisonment with ham labor, the Bench commenting severely on the conduct of prisoner, and stating he deserved a sound whipping besides the imprisonment.
