Auckland, July 6. After further correspondence between the Superintendent and the Colonial Secretary, and the signing by the latter of an agreement submitted by the General Government, £4OO has been paid into the bank from the Colonial Treasury for the use of the Pumping Association. The Superintendent signed the agreement submitted under protest. Grahamstown, July 6. At a public meeting last night, it was decided to petion Parliament for increased representation. The district contains a population of nearly 13,000; the new electoral roll will contain 3000 names, and the district has only one member. Wellington, July 6. Sailed—At ten this morning, the Wellington, for the South. Passengers—Messrs Bethel, Hall, McNeil, Main, Laitham, Hcwett, Day, Mr and Mrs Lazwell, Mr and Mrs Rapley, Misses Anderson and White, the Wheeler and De Glorian troupe. The City of Melbourne left San Francisco, with the English mail, on the 21st June, and is expected to arrive at Auckland in advance of her due date. Dunedin, July 6. The Criminal SeL .'ons opened yesterday. Judge Johnston said it would ill become him with so limited a knowledge of the statistics of the district to make any special observations with regard to| crime. He said he had not been able in any part of the colony to discover any traces of dangerous classes amongst the immigrants introduced to our shores. Greymouth, July 6. Arrived—The Sarah and Mary, ketch ; the Sarah and Mary, brigantine, and the J. G. Coleson, schooner, all from Lyttelton. The Lizzie Guy. schooner, from the same port is in the roadstead. She has been ordered on to Hokitika. Sailed—The Charles Edward, for Nelson, with the outward English mails.
