Auckland, June 30,
The Harbor Board has received a cable telegram that a hundred thousand pounds of the dook luau has bccu floated in London at ninety-eight. There are no tidings of the schooner Pacific, from Oamaru.
The City Council has confirmed the desirability of tramways, and resolved to invite applications for laying them till the 21st of July, each applicant stating the conditions under which he would carry out the work, and depositing £SOO as a guarantee of fulfilment. The Council will recommend the most favorable offer to the Superintendent for acceptance. Geahamstown, June 30. The suggestion of the Orakamstomn Advertiser that Mr Stafford be asked to stand for the Thames has been very cordially received on all sides. The Advertiser complains of the class of men sent from the goldfields and claims four representatives when the readjustment takes place. The Customs revenue at the port of Thames for June, amounted to £1123; for the quarter ending 30th June, 1875, £3073; for the corresponding quarter in 1874, £2650. Wellington, June 30. The steamer Hawea arrived at 4 30, after a long and rough passage. She is advertised to sail North at midnight to-morrow. A large number of invitations to luncheon on board have been sent out. A new weekly paper will soon be started here by Thomas Bracken, to be entitled The Saturday Advertiser and New Zealand Literary Miscellany. A deputation waited upon the Superintendent regarding the delay in the completion of the Clutha line, the Waikouaiti to Palmerston, and the Mataura to Popotuna line, and other lines of railway. He promised to bring the matter before the General Government, as urged by the deputation. Wellington, July 1. Arrived—The Ladybird, the Aspasia, and the Jessie, from Lyttelton.
