TO CORRESPONDENTS.

X.Y.Z. inquiries whether the Education Ordinance is compulsory, and whether, if he has a child between the ages of six and thirteen, and choses not to send him to any school, nor wishes to educate him in any respect, is he compelled to pay the poll tax.—We may inform X.Y.Z. that the Ordinance is not compulsory, that is to say, the law does not compel him to send his child to school, but he will have to pay the household rate and the school fees notwithstanding.
