COMMERCIAL.
Dunedin. —Messrs Wright, Stephenson, and Co report for the week ending 19th June, as follows: Fat cattle—The supply was about an average one, and prices ruled a shade over last week’s rates. MO head were yarded, of which about one-third were of good quality. We sold 60 head at equal to 32 ; od per 1001 b for good quality, and 25s for medium ditto. Fat calves—Only a few were yarded, which sold readily at from 35s to 55s each. Fat sheep—--1400 were penned. We sold 600 cross-breds at from 14s to 22s each, the latter figure being for very heavy three-quartcr-breds; also, 250 Merino ewes, poor quality, at 5s each. We quote prime mutton at per lb. Privately we have sold, for forward delivery, 3500 cross-breds. Store cattle—No transactions. Store sheep—Operations have been very limited during the week. We have enquiries for young sheep, but very few are offering. We quote cross-breds, 4 and 6-tooth, 12s 6d; do, 2-tooth, 10s to 11s; do, lambs, 8s; Merino wethers, 4 and 6-tooth, 7s 6d to 8s; do do, full-mouthed, 6s 6d to(7s; do ewes, 4 and 6-tooth, 8s to 9s; do do, full-mouthed, 4s to ss. Horses —There is a fair demand for heavy draughts and strong coach horses, four or five years old. On Saturday, 26th instant, we shall oiler, at our yards, a very superior shipment of heavy draught mares, ex Omeo, from Melbourne. We quote firstclass heavy draughts, £65 to £7O; medium do, £45 to £55; light do, £2B to £4O; .good hacks and light harness horses, £25 to £35; light and inferior, £5 to £7, Wool—By the Omeo the following cable telegram has been received, dated London, June sth: “ The wool sales are proceeding satisfactorily. The sales will conclude on the 17th.” Sheepskins—Our weekly sale, held on Friday, was well attended by the trade. The quantity offered was smaller than usual, and prices obtained were fully equal to last week’s rates. Station skins sold at from 3s 2d to 4s 7d each, and CJd per lb; butchers’ green skins— Merino. Is lOd to 3s 2d; half-bred, 3s [7d to 3s 9d each. Hides continue in good demand, and command full rates. We disposed of 75 medium weights at. from 16s 6d to 22s 3d each. Grain—Wheat is in rather better request. Prime samples are saleable at 4s fid per bushel; medium, at from 4s to 4s 3d; Inferior and fowls’ feed, 3s 9d to 3s lOd. Oats are in fair demand, at from 2s fid to 2s lod for feed; up to 3s per bushel for milling samples. BarleyPrime malting saleable at 5s 6d to 5s 9d for prime; ordinary samples not being worth more than 5s to 5s 3d; inferior, 4s to 4s 6d per bushel.
