June 12 —Invererne, ship, 744 tons, D. Foreman, for London. The s.s. Ladybird arrived in harbour at 8 a.m. this morning, after a passage from Dunedin of 20 hours. She sails North at 4 p.m. The brigantine Omaha, from Kaiapara, timber laden, arrived at noon to-day, after a passage of 13 days. She reports nine coasters outside bound to this port. Two barques were signalled early tins morning from the North. They will probably be the Queen of the South and the Speedwell, YESTERDAY'S SHIP RING. Shippers: Dalgety, Nichols, and Co. The brigantine Sea Bird sailed from Hokitika on the 4th of June, timber laden, for Lyttelton. The brigantine Sarah and Mary, with a cargo of sawn timber, consisting of 90,000 feet, sailed from Hokitika on the 6th of June. The barque M. A. Annison, Captain Hughes, arrived at Auckland from Lyttelton after a run of seven days. , „ , , _ . The brig Woodlark arrived at Sydney from Lyttelton, via Hokianga, on the 2lst ultimo. The fine three-masted schooner Estelle arrived at Auckland on the 3rd of June from Dunedin, via Invercargill, produce laden. The schooner lately arrived at the latter port from London. She lias been purchased by Mr T. Kitchen, of Grahamstown, and is Intended for the New Zealand trade. The brigantine Flirt arrived at Tauranga, from Lyttelton, on the Bth of June. We have been shown a private letter from Captain Barnes, of the schooner Pearl, in which he states that on Sunday last he saw off Timaru the wreck of a schooner, painted white. There is little doubt this was the unfortunate Success. The captain of the Pearl states that vessel behaved admirably during the gale, took no water on board, and started nothing. , The schooner Jessie Henderson sailed from Picton on the Bth of June, lor Lyttelton, timber laden. On the same day the schooner J. G. Coleson, from Greymouth to this port, arrived at Picton windbound. The schooner Omaha sailed from Kaipara for this port on the 27th ultimo with a cargo of timber shipped at the Aratapu Mills. She is now fully due. The Kate Macgregor, from Auckland, arrived at Bear Island, near Napier, on Wednesday, but owing to southerly winds had to run to Napier for shelter. From Bear Island she will proceed to Lyttelton in ballast.—“ Auckland Star,” June Ist. The schooner Herald left Lyttelton at 6 p.m. on Friday, and came to an anchor at 8 p.m. on Saturday. The Herald experienced a perfect hurricane of wind, and fearful weather on the run up, and was off Cape Campbell twelve hours out. Captain Hamilton has never seen the weather so bad before, but the Herald, he says, behaved admirably.— “ Wellington Tribune,” June 7th. The s.s. Taranaki, Captain Lloyd, left Manakau at 12.30 p.m. on the 7th, arrived at Taranaki at 8.30 a.m, on Bth, left asain at 11.20, and got to Nelson at 4 a.m. on the 9th; left at 1 p.m., and was at Picton at 9 same night, leaving again at 1 a.m. on 10th; Wellington was reached at 0.30 a.m. same morning, and left again at 4.10 in the afternoon, Lyttelton being reached at 9 30 a m. yesterday, thus making the run from Wellington to here in less than serentern and a half hours. From the Manakau to Wellington experienced light Si), weather, and thence to Lyttelton N.W. wind (light) and smooth sea. She brought 85 bales wool and skins, and 2 casks tallow, for shipment home, and about 20 tons of general cargo for this port, and sailed for Dunedin at 1 p.m. yesterday. We have to thank Mr Edmiston, the purser, for report and files.
