THE LINCOLN MEETING.
Mr Turner's Gunner won the Lincoln Handicap on March 17th, easily, by three lengths from Mr Savile's Kaiser, and Mr Bowes's Madge Wildfire, and twenty-nine others. In the betting at starting Thuringian Prince advanced to 2 to 1, and Lady Patricia to 100 to 15, while Gunner declined to 30 to 1. Thuringian Prince was one of the first beaten, and at the distance Madge Wildfire looked like winning easily, but she suddenly compounded. Bothwell beat Lincoln in the Scurry Plate; but the latter afterwards won the Castle Selling Plate. Charon won the Lincoln Clip, Jack the Lindum Steeplechase, Broomieknowe the Stonebow Hurdle-race, and Whalebone the Gone Away Plate, The Liverpool meeting was continued, when Blue Rock won the Litherland Handicap, and Carmelite secured the Aintree Cup for his owner. For the Molyneux Two-year-old Plate a warm favourite in the Heiress colt was upset by Corydale. Birbeck won the Hightown Plate, Pacha the Mersey Welter, and Whinyard the Palatine Hurdle. The Grand National was won by Mr Bird's Pathfinder, Dainty being second, and La Veine third.
