MAGISTRATES' COURTS.
CHRISTCHURCH. Tuesday, May 11. [Before G. L. Mellish, Esq, R.M.] Lunacy from Drink.—William Fox, who had been remanded for medical treatment, was now brought up and discharged with a caution.
Drunkenness. Roderick Fitzmaurice, fined ss. A case against George Yates was dismissed, as he had been sent to the Hospital with a broken leg. Neglected Children.—Eliza Jane Melbourne, Charlotte Melbourne, and Charles Melbourne, the eldest nine years of age, and the youngest four, were ordered to be sent to the Industrial School for seven years. His Worship said that there was not the slightest doubt that the children had been greatly neglected. Assaulting a Wife.—A case against William Guthrie for assaulting his wife, Margaret Guthrie, was called on, but as defendant did not appear, a warrant was ordered to issue for his arrest.
