BOROUGH COUNCIL.
KAIAPOI. Tuesday, May 4. The ordinary meeting of this Council was held on Tuesday evening. Present: The Mayor ; Crs Blackwell, Beharrell, Wearing, Milsom, Porter, and Parnhara. Or Milsom apologised for the absence of Or Funston, chairman of the sanitary committee, and the committee’s report was not ready for presentation. Possibly it would be forthcoming at next meeting. Or Beharrell moved, Cr Parnham seconded, “ That the accounts —P. Anderson, metal, Akaroa street, £5 15s 6d ; labour, £lO 7a 9d ; foreman, £4 10s; carting, £7 3s ; Jjyttelton Times, £1 14s 4d ; Press Co, £4 12s 2d ; engineer of fire brigade, £4 12s 8d ; C. Hansen, £4 8s 6d ; sundries, £1 Is ; town clerk, £4 8s 9d : total, £4B IBs 8d be passed.” Agreed to. Cr Parnham moved, Cr Porter seconded, “That the public works committee be requested to make an estimate, for the next meeting, of income and expenditure, in accordance with clause 208 of the Act.” Agreed to. Cr Parnham moved, Cr Wearing seconded, “ That the town clerk be instructed to prepare a valuation of the property in the borough, and submit it at next meeting, for which he receive the same amount of remuneration (£3 3s) as last year.” Carried. The town clerk signed a declaration as valuer.
Cr Wearing reported the cost of the work at the junction of North and Beach roads, which was £7, and moved that the clerk forward the account for the same to the Mandeville and Rangiora Road Board. Cr Blackwell seconded the motion, which was carried.
