MAGISTRATES’ COURTS.
CHRISTCHURCH. Wednesday, April 28. [Before G. L. Hellish, Esq., R.M.] Drunkenness. —The following inebriates were dealt with:—William Hutton, an old offender, fined 40s; William Smith, fined 10s.
LYTTELTON, Tuesday, April 27. [Before W. Donald, Esq, R.M.] Slaughter- house Ordinance.— Thomas H. Parkinson was charged with a breach of the above Ordinance. The case had been adjourned from Tuesday last, to allow the Sergeant-Major of Police to report. The report was read by the Resident Magistrate, and the defendant stated that it was his intention to move the slaughter-yard further round the bay as soon as possible. The Court allowed the case to stand over, not inflicting a fine; informing the defendant that it would be necessary to keep the yard clean. Married Women’s Property Protection Act.— Mrs Heron applied for an order to protect her earnings from her husband, Alexander Heron. Mr H. N. Nalder appeared for Mrs Heron. The Court, after hearing the evidence of Mrs Heron, which went to show that her husband had not provided anything towards her support since February, 1874, made the order as prayed, to date from February, 1874. CIVIL Cases. —Armitage v McCalman; claim, £3 6s 3d; judgment for plaintiff for amount claimed, and 6s. Same v Hoggarty; claim, £l9; judgment by default for full amount, with costs 9s. Same v Kerr; claim, £2 4s lid; judgment forfull amount, and 9s. Same v Barton; claim, £2 7s lid; judgment by default for amount claimed, and costs 9s. Same v Newton; claim £3 13s; judgment by default for amount claimed, with 9s. Same v Hill; claim, £1 6s 9d; judgment by default, with 9a costa. Same v Warran; claim, £3 13a 4d; judgment by default for full amount, with 9a coats. Same v Waters; claim, £2 10s 8d; judgment for full amount, with costs 6s.
