HIS EXCELLENCY'S APARTMENTS.
As is already known on receipt of the telegram from Wellington, giving the date of his Excellency's visit to Christchurch, arrangements were made by the Government with Mr Wagner, of the Clarendon Hotel, to prepare a suite of rooms. The north section of the hotel, comprising nine rooms on the second, and four on the first floor, was chosen, and since Tuesday tradesmen of all classes have been working night and day, the rooms being re papered with choice patterns, painted, newly furnished, curtained, &c, &c, presenting not only a comfortable but elegant appearance, with the passages closed to completely shut this section off from the other portion of the hotel, making it in all respects a private residence. The front of the house, including the balcony, has also received attention, and a number of trees in pots, have been arranged on either side, giving a nice appearance to the entrance.
