MUNICIPAL CORPORATIONS REVENUES ORDINANCE.

The following is the text of the Bill introduced into the Council by the Government, granting certain fees to the municipalities within the province: Whereas it is expedient to provide that the monies payable for licenses and fees under the provisions of the Ordinances and Act specified in the schedule hereto annexed should form part of the ordinary revenue of the body corporate of the several boroughs in which the persons paying the same reside or carry on business : Be it therefore enacted by the Superintendent of the said province by and with the advice and consent of the Provincial Council thereof: 1. In the construction of this Ordinance the term municipality shall be taken to mean and include any borough within the province of Canterbury and the Council of such borough incorporated under the provisions of the Municipal Corporations Act 1867 and any road district and the Board thereof incorporated under the provisions of the Canterbury Roads Ordinance 1872 and any borough and road district which shall hereafter be incorporated under the provisions of the said Act and Ordinance respectively And also any borough and road district and the Council or Board thereof respectively which shall hereafter be incorporated under the provisions of any Act of the General Assembly or Ordinance of the Provincial Council which may come into force in the Province of Canterbury. 2. Tnis Ordinance shall come into operation on the day of 1875. 3. From and after the above date all fees payable under the provisions of any of the Ordinances and Act specified in the schedule hereto on licenses and registrations by any person or persons residing or carrying on business within the boundaries of any municipality by law established and incorporated within the said province shall go and belong to and form part of the ordinary revenue of such municipality. The clerk of every municipality within the said province is hereby empowered to sign and issue on payment of the fees provided for by the said Ordinances and Act all such licenses and certificates of registration under the provisions of the said Ordinances and Act to persons residing or carrying on business within the boundaries of such municipality instead of the Provincial Treasurer and the fees for such licenses and certificates of registration shall form part of the ordinary revenue of such municipality and shall not form part of the ordinary revenue of the province of Canterbury Provided always that the dues and fees payable for all such licenses and registration certificates by persons not residing within the limits of any municipality shall not be affected by the provisions of this Ordinance. 4. The 'words “ Provincial Treasurer” in the 2nd and 4th sections of the Auctioneers’ Ordinance Session 111 No 3 the words “ Provincial Treasurer” “ sub-treasurer” in the 16th 18fh and 19th sections of the Public House Ordinance 1866 The words “ Provincial Treasurer” in sections 2 3 and 4 of the Public House Ordinance 1866 Amendment Ordinance 1867 Session XXVII No 7 The words “ Provincial Treasurer of the Province in the 11th section of the Dog Nuisance Ordinance Session XVII No 3 And the words “ Provincial Treasurer of any Province” in the 12th section and “Provincial Treasurer of the Province” in the 29th section and “ Provincial Treasurer” in the 30th section of the Licensing Act 1873 and the

words “ Provincial Treasurer” in the 10th section of the Licensing Act 1873 Amendment Act 1874 shall for the purposes of this Ordinance but not further or otherwise be construed to mean the clerk of the municipality of which he is the clerk. 5. This Ordinance shall be intituled and may be cited as the Canterbury Municipal Corporations’ Revenues Ordinance 1875. SCHEDULE. The Auctioneers’ Ordinance Session 111. No 3.
