CHRISTCHURCH. Saturday, April 10. [Before G. L. Mellish, Esq., R.M.] Forging and Uttering.—James Campbell, alias Samuel Cook, arrested for forging a cheque on the Union Bank of Australia, and uttering the same, was, on the application of Sergeant Pratt, remanded until Monday. Drunk and Disorderly. Edward Thomas was fined 10s, and George Dowding ss. Stealing Apples.—George Murray, a middle aged man, was charged with stealing two apples from the garden of Mr J. Jones, on the South town belt, and sentenced to 24 hours’ imprisonment. Neglected Children’s Act.—Louisa Byron, a little girl 12 years of age, who had been deserted by her father for the last 12 months, was sent to the Industrial School for four years, to be brought up in the teaching of the Church of England.
