CANTERBURY RIFLE ASSOCIATION.

The conclusion of the events which took place on the Hillsborough range on Easter Monday came off on Saturday last, the events to come off being the finish of the All Comers’ Match at 700 yards, and the International Match, for which, however, representatives did not appear. The highest scores at 600 yards were—Strange, 17; S. Manning, 15; Stuart, 13. On Easter Monday some of the men fired at the 700 yards range, but others declined to do so in consequence of the boisterous state of the weather. A few of the former fired again at 700 yards on Saturday, under the impression that their old scores might be ignored, and the whole matter now rests in abeyance until the committee give their decision on the point. The scores at 700 yards cannot, therefore, be published. It is to be regretted that the International Match was not fired off on Easter Monday, when a Scotch team was on the ground ready to fire, the difficulty of getting a team together on Saturday afternoons being well known. As the International Match did not take place, a sweepstake match was got up by the members of the association on the ground, at 400 and 500 yards, seven shots at each range; three prizes. The following are the respective scores:—
