AGRICULTURAL AND PASTORAL ASSOCIATION.

A meeting of the committee of the Canterbury .Agricultural and Pastoral Association was held at Tattersall’s at 3 p.m. yesterday. Present : Messrs H. P. M. Aynsley (in the chair), Norman, Henderson, Wash bourn, Fantham, R. H. Campbell, O’Callaghan, Anderson, jun., Ferguson, Mcßeth, Mann, A. ; Duncan, Freestone, Sutherland, Several accounts were brought up and passed for payment. The report of the sub-committee on the mid-wintershow was read, as follows : i “ Resolved —First. That it is desirable to hold such show, provided proper accommodation can be secured in Christchurch, say in i the premises belonging to the Messrs Campbell, Matson, and Wilkin. The secretary to I write to the Messrs Campbell, asking the i price they would charge for their Repository and back yard. The sub-committee are of opinion that this building and yard j would afford sufficient room for penning the cattle and sheep, and that Messrs H. Matson and Co’s premises adjoining would be sufficient for the grain and roots, or failing these premises, that Mr R. Wilkin’s would be available. Secondly, that such show should ; be held on the 15th July. Thirdly, that in order to secure sufficient space for exhibits, classes in cattle should be reduced from eleven, as last year, to seven, with only one animal in a pen. Age of cattle to date from Ist August, to suit this show, instead of Ist July as heretofore. “ In sheep, that all classes fat ewes be excluded, the classes to remain being—l. Pen of merino wethers. 2. Pen of five twotooth half-bred merino wethers by a Down ram. 3, Pen of five four-toothed and upwards half-bred merino wethers, by a Down ram. 4. Pen of two-toothed half-bred merino wethers by any long woolled ram. 6, Pen of five four-toothed and upwards half-bred merino wethers by any long-woolled ram. 6. Pen of five two-toothed Down wethers. 7. Pen of five four-toothed and upwards Down wethers. 8. Pen of five twotoothed wethers of any long-woolled breed. 9. Pen of five wethers, four-toothed and upwards of any long-woolled breed. Pigs same as last year’s catalogues. Bacon, cured pork, and beef, as before. Fat poultry as before, with the addition of two fowls, two ducks, one goose, one turkey, dressed ready for cooking. Dairy produce as in last year’s catalogue; the date of salting, in respect to salt butter, to be declared at time of making entry or the exhibit disqualified. Grain, seeds, and roots as before, with these additions:—Twelve red carrots for culinary purposes, twelve kohl rabbi, 1 cwt meadow hay, ]. cwt clover hay. Ale and malt as in last year’s catalogue, “ Resolved —That exhibitors of grain seeds and roots, furnish particulars as to mode of culture, quality of land, and to state if manure was used. In all other particulars the rules and regulations of last year to be carried out. “ W. Henderson, « Chairman of Bub-Committee. “ March Ist, 1875.” The secretary read a letter from Messrs J. and R. H. Campbell, offering the use of their yards free of cost for the mid-winter show, provided the association undertook to clear the yards on the hriday, and also refund any expense they might be put to by sending their horses elsewhere, and also to make good any damage done. The offer of Messrs Campbell was accepted. The report was then discussed seriatim, A motion proposed by Mr Mann, that the date of age of cattle remain as heretofore was lost, and the report as a whole adopted. After the transaction of some further routine business the meeting adjourned.
