Currie, Miss Jane Currie, Master John Currie. March 9—Taranaki, s.s,, 299 tons, Lloyd, for Northern ports. Passengers—Saloon ; Mrs M'Auloff, Messrs Chamberlain, H. E. Baker, Laurence, Wardrop, Davenport, Ross, Harrison, Day, Thompson, Ormsby, Buckley, Pollen, Harman, Wilson, Nott, Miss Wright, and twenty original. March 10—Flirt, brigantine, 100 tons, McKenzie, for Aucldand, March 10—Strathnaver, schooner, 54 tons, Jorgenson, for Hokitika. THE DEPARTURE OF THE WAITANGI. The fine ship Waitanai loft this port yesterday about 5 p.m, in excellent trim, though rather deep in the water. There is little doubt that she will make a speedy and profitable passage, aud that we shall soon see her here again in the country from which she derives her name. It ought to be a matter of pride to Lyttelton that wc have lately been attracting passengers from other ports to go home in the exceptionally fine vessels that have lately found a temporary home in our waters. Seen in Auckland the Waitangi was generally admired, and several of her berths taken, and we need hardly say that every spare cabin has been since occupied. It was past B p.m when the Taranaki s.s. steamed up and slowly brought her huge bulk into motion, and in a few minutes £IIO,OOO worth of wool and grain was on Its way to the old country. By sunset she was well outside the heads The well-known missionary (the Rev Mr Grace) is on board with his family.
