Interprovincial Regatta. —At a meeting of the Wellington Regatta committee, held a few days ago, the subject of an Interprovincial Regatta for 1875, was brought up. A motion was made, which was unanimouslyagreed to, that the secretary be asked to communicate with the secretaries of the the rowing and yachting clubs in Auckland, Canterbury, and Otago, asking the co-opera-tion of the boating men in the respective provinces to assist in bringing the great yearly aquatic event of the colony to a successful issue. It appeared to be the opinion of all present that it would be advisable that but one crew from each province should contest for the champion four.

Loyal City of Christchurch Lodge. —The usual lodge meeting was held at the Oddfellows’ Hall, Lichfield street, on Monday evening. After the usual business of the lodge was closed, the N.G. Bro Clephane, in a very eulogistic speech, presented Bro P. G. James Taaffe with a very handsome electroplate tea and coffee service for his valuable services as chairman of the hall committee for the past eighteen months. The N.G. in his remarks dwelt at some length upon the efficient manner in which Bro Taaffe had filled the above office. The recipient having returned thanks in suitable terms, informed the members present of the prosperous state of the new hall. There was also held last night a special meeting to take into consideration the auditors’ report and balance sheet for the past half-year, when it was found that the total receipts for the past year amounted to £l6Ol, and that the lodge was in a most prosperous state, numbering some 320 financial members. The auditors, in perusing the lodge books, found that the books of the permanent secretary, Bro Harper, and the hall keeper, Brother Jane, were perfectly correct in every particular ; but the books of the late treasurer, Charles James, who has also absconded with some £368 of the lodge funds, were found to be incorrect, although, after having lost such a large amount, the balance in favor of the lodge is £ls over that of last year. Brother A. F. W. Brad well was duly elected treasurer, in room of the late treasurer, who was expelled in accordance with the law of the order, The lodge closed ip peace and harmony.

Hbathcote Regatta.— The adjourned meeting of the committee of the Heathcote Regatta, took place last evening, at Warner’s Commercial hotel, at which Mr Wynn Williams presided. The minutes of the previous meeting were read and confirmed, and certain important routine business transacted, when Mr Williams left the chair in consequence of a prior engagement, and Mr N. G. Glassford officiated in his stead. A letter was read from his Honor the Superintendent, stating that he would proclaim Thursday, the 18th instant, a Provincial Government halfholiday, on the occasion of the Regatta. The discussion of further details occupied the committee for a considerable period, when it was agreed to adjourn the meeting till this evening, for the purpose of settling finally the order of the programme, so that it might appear in the morning papers the following day. The entries, it will be remembered, close on Saturday evening. Christchurch Horticultural Society. —The committee of this society held a meeting last night, at the Clarendon Hotel; Mr Greenaway in the chair. It had been resolved at a previous meeting that the autumn show should take place on or about the 4th of March, and the reason why the day was left thus indefinite was a report that the Governor was expected to be in Christchurch some time about the date named, and it was desired to have him as a visitor. Last night, however, it was reported to the committee that his visit to our city would be deferred, and the committee therefore resolved that the show should take place on Thursday, March 4th. The managing committee were instructed to procure a band for the occasion, if one could be obtained on the same terms as that which played at the rose show. It was resolved that the annual dinner of the society take place on Thursday, March 11th, and that the arrangements for it be made by Messrs Greenaway and Crooks. Mr Greenaway exhibited some new dahlias recently imported from England, of which the names were—Mrs Bunn, Jessie Gill, Yellow Boy, John Bunn, and Herbert, the last named being the finest flower. Mr Crooks exhibited a choice collection of verbenas, comprising twenty varieties, the best of which were Sultana, Minnie No 2, Warrior Improved, Venus, Ixora, and Fox Hunter. Mr Napier exhibited a fine dish of the plum known as Jefferson’s Gage.
