The Globe. FRIDAY, FEBRUARY 5, 1875. TELEGRAMS.
{Pr css Agency.) Auckland, February 4. The Native Minister telegraphed from Alexandra to-day:—“Had satisfactory interview with Tawhaio. The first day’s proceedings was more of a formal nature. The tone is good, and the fact of the meeting,. from a native point of view, is significant of good. Further conferences will take place to-morrow. —Donald McLean.” Relative to the reported disturbance between the miners and the natives at Obinemuri, the Government have received the following telegram—“No disturbance between the miners at Obinemuri. Natives do not object to prospecting. The survey is stopped until Mack ay arrives, as the natives wish the boundaries moved further back- in order to save their places. Mackay proceeded immediately to the district.” Grahamstown, February 4. Great dissatisfaction exists amongst the miners who have assembled at hiuemuri at the long delay in opening the country. The natives are reported to be equally dissatisfied, and some of their number propose to revoke their consent, giving the land to Sir Donald McLean, and to deal with the miners themselves, receiving the rights, fees, and granting permits A meeting of diggers is expected to take place shortly to consider the proposals of the natives. The return of Sir Donald McLean is anxiously looked for, as fresh complications are likely to arise if the business is much longer delayed. Wellington, February 4. The Tribune says, it is stated on very good authority that Mr Vogel, finding it to the advantage of the colony, will negociate a new loan through the operation of Rothschild’s, not the Crown agents. The Premier intends to leave his family in England for the present. The ship Jessie Roadman cleared for London, with about 4500 bales wool and other produce, value £90,030. COLONIAL PRIZE FIRING. Parawai, Feb. 4. The all-comer match commenced at nine o’clock this morning. Eighty-eight men entered, divided into five squads.
