Oats are still receding, purchasers only being found for immediate requirements. Quotations for feed, 4s to 4s fid ; milling. 4s 9d ; in the latter very little is doing. Good simples of grinding wheat still command 5s 31 to 5s fid ; fowl wheat is scarce, at 3s 9d to 4s fid ; feeding barley, 4s to 4s fid ; flout is in fair demand, at £l3 to £l3 10s; pollard, £6 10a ; bran, £5 10a.
Auckland, January 30. Fat cattle in full supply, and steady at last week’s quotations: Fat sheep in liimted numbers, 2s each advance. Arrived—’The Add real, from London, with 208 immigrants, all well; ninety days from Falmouth. At the Regatta yesterday, in the Yacht race under nine tons, the Lizard capsized; sank; all crew rescued. TAPaNUI races. [FROM A CORRESPONDENT.] January 28. The attendance and entries were small. Maiden Plate, two entries, Sultana and Sonnambula. The latter cantered over. Tapanui Handicap. Three started. Right Bower, 7st 10st ... ... 1 Traitor, Bst 101 b 2 Stock pole, Bst 21b 4 Stock pole led the first half-mile ; Traitor and Right Bower then went up, Right Bower winning, hard held, by three lengths. The other events are local. January 29. The racing to-day was very indifferent. Great disappointment was expressed at the acceptances for the Jockey Club Handicap, Mr Coombas’ horses, Dutchman, and Bower walking over. Traitor was scratched at 11 a.m., owing to a severe cOld. Four started for the Hurdles, Bismarck, Dido, Kildare, and Unknown. Bismarck fell heavily at the first hurdle; Kildare led, with Dido on his quarters; Unknown three lengths behind. At the mile post Unknown challenged Kildare, but fell immediately upon assuming lead, hurting McKay his rider. Kildare led to the finish, winning by three lengths, Dido second. For the Flyinc Handicap four started. Flying Dutchman, Bst lOlbs ... 1 Envy, 6st 121bs 0 Somuambula, 7st 41bs 0 Bismarck, 7st 0 Envy led the first half-mile, with Dutchman on his quarter. The 300 yards range (seventh infantry match) finished last night, having been delayed by rain, which fell at intervals during the afternoon very heavily. The interest was intense, as this match decides the championship. Churton, of Wanganui, fired for the first time yesterday; Nelson (Thames), was absent.
