RUMOUR OF HER MAJESTY'S DEATH.
A rumour of the death of her Majesty has, in some unexplained way, obtained currency, not only in the United States, as previously telegrephed to us, but also in England. A telegraphic message which appears in the A Ita California, under date November 27, says:—"The latest English papers just received here confirm the despatches from London, published by the American Press Association, regarding the prevalence of a rumour of the death of Queen Victoria. Notwithstanding the Associated Press published a report, stating that the rumour was not current, and that no London paper referred to it, the following editorial, from the London Times of the next day, proves conclusively that the story was current, and that the assertion of the Associated Press was false:—' A most painful rumour, which, happily, proves to have been quite unfounded, was current in London yesterday. Inquiries made in reliable quarters enable us to state that there are no grounds for anxiety respecting her Majesty's health.' Special despatches in the same paper announce the prevalence of the rumour throughout Great Britain." It is rather strange that no mention of this rumour has been conveyed per cable Ana Suez.
