CHRISTCHURCH. Friday, January 22. (Before Dr Back, J.P.) ■ LUNACY FROM DRINK.' Timothy Fahey, who had been drinking very much lately, and given into custody by his brother, was remanded to Lyttelton for a week for medical treatment. DRUNKENNESS. William Fisher, charged with being drunk and committing a nuisance in a public place, was fined 10s. INDECENT EXPOSURE. Thomas Hawkea, charged with committing an act of exposure in a railway carriage on the South line on the previous day, was fined 40s or 48 hours. ILLEGALLY ON PREMISES. Henry Elliott was arrested for being found illegally in an outhouse of the Devonshire Arms Hotel that morning. Mr Lewis, landlord of the hotel, stated that accused, had no right to be there. He believed the man had no home, and was unable to obtain a living for himself. He (witness) was afraid he would be found dead on his premises some morning if he permitted him to remain about there. Fined 10s or twenty-four hours; in the meantime Mr Callender to be communicated with to see what can be done for the accused. LARCENY. Rasmis Jorgensen was charged with the larceny of a watch. Detective Benjamin stated that he saw the prisoner at the comer of the City hotel, after eleven o’clock the previous night. He took a watch from him and charged him with having stolen it from Joshua Gorkin on the 20th of December last. The prisoner acknowledged having taken it out of Gorkin’s bedroom. He then arrested him on the charge. Chief-Detective Feast asked for a remand to enable him to communicate with the prosecutor. Remanded until Saturday.
