Dec 31—Beautiful Star, s.s., 146 tons, Peterson, from Dunedin, via intermediate ports. Passengers—Cabin : Mr and Mrs Chapman, Miss Donaldson, Messrs Donaldson, Fraser, Russell, Annand, and 10 in steerage. SAILED. Dec 31—Craig Ellachie, brig, 226 tons, Joss, for Bluff. ' The s.s, Beautiful Star arrived in harbour from Dunedin, via intermediate ports, about 12.45 p.m. this afternoon. She sails on her return trip on Sunday. The barque William Gifford, from Auckland, with timber, came up the harbour this morning, and anchored abrest of the town. ARRIVAL OF THE SHIP CRUSADER, This vessel was signalled this morning about four o'clock, and anchored off Rhodes Bay at 8.45 a.m. The s.s. Gazelle, with the Health Officers on board, proceeded down to the ship immediately after the arrival of the 11 a.m. train from Christchurch. On enquiry it was found that the passage had occupied 97 days, and that during that time there had been seven deaths and seven births on board. The ship was then passed by the Health Officer. She brings a large number of saloon passengers, and 350 Government immigrants.
