Arrangements arc being made for the reception of the new Governor. Various orders and friendly societies will be communicated with as to taking part in a public demonstration. The Governor is expected to arrive on Friday, which will be proclaimed a public holiday. Dunedin, December 7. At the adjourned meeting on Saturday night, the Jockey Club decided to disqualify Mabel. [FROM OUR DUNEDIN CORRESPONDENT.] Dunedin, December 7. Mr Bathgate gave judgment in Aiming v Martin. A verdict was given for the plaintiff with £35. Fifty other Comet cases are ruled by this decision. Ro Comet Case.—ln giving judgment Mr Bathgate said Mcllroy had acted throughout very reasonably and in good faith. Mcllroy has commenced an action against Martin for defamation of character. Damages arc laid at £SOOO. No notice of appeal has yet been given. WELLINGTON RACES. Hutt, December 5. Handicap Hurdle Race, 75 sovs. Two miles. Seven fibhts. This race was a dead gift to Tommy Dodd, who took every hurdle clean, and was hotter jumped and galloped than New Zealander. Monarch was scratched. Time. 4min, 31 sees. Hack Hurdle Rage. Four hurdles. Two cut rics. Kangaroo won through Dick Turpin shieing at the last hurdle. Jockey Club Handicap. lOOsovs. Milo and half. Ten entries. Voltaire, Rangi and Tambounni were scratched. Parawhei ua took the lead, Remnant second, Guy Fawke’s being third. Ngaro fourth, Princess Mary last. There wore but slight changes in the race until coming to the straight, when Princess Mary came up from theiast, and came within two lengths of Para when ua, who was first, and a length off Remnant. Par.twhenna won by three lengths, Remnant second, Princess Mary third. Time, 2min 49secs. Wellington Derby. JOO povo. Mile and half, Seven entries. Voltaire, Gienary, and Rangi were scratched. Betting, 5t04 on Ntraro. After several false starts, Ngaro went off with a lead, Remnant second, Guy third, Nanakaia not movable till one hundred yards had been gone. Nanakaia turned rusty after the half mile and pulled up. Ngaro kept the lead, Remnant and Guy running neck and neck. These positions were maintained until the straight run home, when Ngaro won by a couple of lengths ; Guv second. Remnant appeared to be held. Time, 2min, 55secs. Lough Reagh, winner of the Maiden Plato, was sold by Ballance, of Wanganui, just before races, to Mr O’Brien, owner of Tambourini, for £3OO.
