ROAD BOARDS.

LINCOLN. The ordinary monthly meeting of this Board was held at the office, Prebbleton, on the 3rd inst. Present—Messrs Knight, Marchant, Leadley, and Maskrey; in the absence of the chairman Mr Knight was voted to the chair. The surveyor read his report. Tenders were opened, and one accepted in each case for the following works:—No 40, metalling three miles, more or less, on Bhand’a road; No 41, metalling seventy chains, more or less, on Ellesmere road, by Lawson’s; No 42, forming 40 chains, on Prebbleton and Templeton road; No 43, painting immigrant’s cottages. A petition was read from Messrs Aiken, Henly, and others residing at the western end of Shand’s road, requesting the Board to form that portion of Taucred and Halswell road lying between Shand’s road and Springe road. The Board resolved to call for tenders for the work, to be sent in before 7 p.m, on Thursday, the ) oth inst; also for metalling eighty chains, more or less, of Halswell road, by Ladbrook’s, from Shand’s road to Spring’s road ; also for metalling eighty chains, more or less, of the same road from Spring’s road to the Prebbleton and Lincoln road ; also for spreading the clay, &c, thrown out of Townsend’s drain, so as to form a road. The B°ard decided to bold a special meeting at the office on Thursday, the 10th, to receive the tenders. Mr D, Gellatlcy had an interview with the Board, and requested that they would fence in the immigrants’ cottages at Lincoln, on reserve No 343, now in his occupation. The Board decided to fence in the cottages as requested with posts and two rails. The following correspondence was read; — From the Secretary for Public Works, informing the Board that the sum of £947 10s, being the third instalment of grant to Board for the general purposes of the district, will be paid *n the credit of the Board I'mthwUh , From Medames Donald ana rlobcrt Marshall, accepting the offer of the Board to pay them 7s per chain for half cost of their fences bounding the reserve. The Board decided to give the labor gang a fortnight’s notice, as harvest operations were drawing near; but that the services of the foreman should be retained.

The surveyor was instructed to advertise the anuual meeting of ratepayers to take place at the Road Board Office, Prebbletou, on Thursday, the 7th of January, 1876, at 12 noon, to elect three members to serve on the Board in place of Messrs Knight, Marchant, and Leadley, who retire by rotation. The paysheet, amounting to £674 2s 6d, having been passed for payment, the Board adjourned.
