(Fer Anglo-Australian Press Telegraph Agency. ) Auckland, December 1. Cecilia Allen, the child charged with arson at the North Shore, has made a full confession. She said she also tried to set fire to another place; Another case of fever has occurred at the Quarantine Station. The patient is a child named Smith. This will cause the detention of all immigrants in quarantine for a further period. The entries for the various events of the Auckland races close to-night. 7 30 P.M. Notwithstanding the fresh case of scarlet fever at the Quarantine Station, the single men and women are to be brought up tomorrow. The Public "Works Department has intimated to the Harbor Board that they cannot permit the substitution of a hydraulic lift for dock under the Loan Act. £50,000 worth debentures of the dock loan have been sent to Sydney, reports from there favoring the possibility of negotiating it. Cecilia Allen's confession indicates that she possessed a monomania for fire raising. She attempted several fires in Auckland some time ago, but was stopped by neighbors. Dune Din, December 1. A deputation from the Harbor Board waited on Mr Reynolds to-day re the delegation of powers by the Governor. Mr Reynolds said there was no objection on the part of the General Government to delegare to the Board similar powers to those given to the Auckland Board immediately on the Superintendent delegating the power he possessed. The Licensing Bench refused the majority of applications for publicans' licenses. Mr Bathgate, as chairman, remarked on the absurdity of the previous course—first refusing, and then after same applicants had persistently applied for renewal, getting it simply through perseverance, and said the present Bench would adopt a totally different policy, and refuse, unless under very strong circumstances, to grant a license once refused. Anyone once fined for a breach, need never apply for another license. At Lawrence, the concrete roof of the colonnade, new Court-house, fell in this morning with a great crash, The damage is extensive, and the loss will fall on the contractor. THIS DA T 8 TELEGRAMS. Wellington, Dec. 2. The ship Soukar, with 330 Government immigrants, is signalled as outside the heads. The Phoebe has gone to tow her in. Through an oversight, no proclamation was issued to postpone the meeting of Parliment, which had to be formally opened yesterday, and is consequently adjourned from day to day till the new Governor arrives. Dunedin, Dec. 2. The Choral Society gave the oratorio of the "Prodigal Son, "to a crowded attendance, at the University Hall last night. Trout fishing commenced yesterday ; there was some good sport. At a full meeting of the Jockey Club last night a protest against Mabel, and the conduct of her rider in the St. Andrew's Handicap, was considered. It was proved that the horse's head had been turned after the start had been made; and Dobson, the starter, and others, stated that the horse was afterwards wilfully held. Mitchison, the rider, was disqualified from riding at Forbury during the pleasure of the club ; and the consideration of the protest against Captain Hutchinson and Mabel was adjourned till Saturday. Captain Hutchinson said that by this course he considered that a slur had been thrown on him, and handed in his resignation as vice-president of the club.
