MAGISTRATES’ COURTS.
CHRISTCHURCH. Tuesday, November 17. [Before C. C. Bowen, Esq., R.M., and L Walker, Esq , J.P.] DRUNK AND INDECENT EXPOSURE. Joseph Bowden, arrested for this offence, was fined 20s. LARCENY. George W. Price was charged with stealing a watch and chain from a man named Barrett. Chief detective Feast deposed to the arrest of the prisoner on the charge. He had pawned the watch at Cohen’s pawnshop, and information of its loss had previously been lodged with the police. Before the robbery the prisoner had been seen to leave the Golden Age Hotel with the prosecutor. Sigismund Cohen, pawnbroker, Colombo street, stated that the prisoner offered the chain attached to the watch produced in pawn, at his shop. He said he did not like to pawn the watch as he had brought it from home. Subsequently, be said he had purchased the watch from a sailor. On the application of Chief Detectives Feast, a femand was granted until Friday next, LYTTELTON. Monday, November 16. [Before W, Donald, Esq, R.M.] DRUNKENNESS. Nathaniel Dix, arrested by Constable Wallace, charged with the above offence, was dismissed with a caution.
