What word is always pronounced wrong ? Wrong. And yet it must be wrong, or it wouldn’t be right. A Southern editor offers to name his first baby after the first person who pays tho longest subscription in advance. “ Darling, it’s bed time. All tho little chickens have gone to bed,” “Yes, mamma, and so has the old hen. ”
A very weathy farmer of Titus ville( U. S.) had this “notis” posted up in his field:—“lf any man’s or woman’s cows or oxen gits in this here oats, his or her tail will be cut off, as the case may be.” Said Bill to Jack, “ How many legs would a calf have, calling the tail one?” “Five, answered Jack. “No it wouldn’t said Bill, “ for calling the tail one wouldn’t make it so, would it ?’ Jack fainted. A workman, while repairing one of the outer Venetian blinds of an aristocratic establishment, missed his footing and fell into the street. A crowd gathered round him and ra’sed him, when it was found that he had re reived only a few slight contusions. Meanwhile, one of the servants brought him a glass of water. Making a wry face, the man said: < Only water ! From what height should I have to fall to get a glass of beer!’
