ST JOHN’S CHURCH.
The organ at the above church is now undergoing extensive alterations and additions, and until these are completed it is intended to use a harmonium for the services. The organ (by Kolditch, of London) in its present state is small, but when the additions are completed it will be one of the largest in the colony. It is to be placed in the stone chamber in course of erection on the south side of the chancel, and which will be shortly ready for its reception. The following is the projected synopsis . Mr Neville Barnett, Fellow of the College of Organists, London, who recently arrived by the ship Duke of Edinburgh, has provisionally received the appointment of choirmaster and organist to the church, pending a reply to instructions forwarded to England relative to this appointment.
