CHRISTCHURCH. Saturday, November 7. (Before A. Lean, Esq., J.P.) DRUNK AND DISORDERLY. James Shean for this offence was fined 5s ; James Kennedy, a lad for drunkenness, and committing an act of exposure was fined 20s or 48 hours. Mary Holmes, an old offender, arrested for being illegally on the premises of Mr Proctor, Worcester street, and against whom there were twenty-four previous convictions was sentenced to six months imprisonment with hard labor as a vagrant. OBTAINING MONEY BY FALSE PRETENCES. Margaret B. Todd was charged with obtaining lodging and money by false pretences from George Brown, boarding-house keeper, Madras-street south. Chief-detective Feast asked for a remand until Monday, which was granted.
