The evidence so far tends to show that it was an act of incendiarism Kelmsley and Woodward are still in custody on suspicion. Fifteen other witnesses have to be examined. Sir George Arney leaves for Wellington to-morrow, to attend the Court of Appeal. Napier, November 3. Dinwiddio, Morrison and'Co are the successful tenderers for the right of advertising on the Napier Railway lines, Spit to Napier. Tarndon, Hastings, Pakipaki, and Waipukurau. Wellington, November 3. The prospectus has been issued of a new steam company, to provide a steamer expressly suittd "for the bar harbors of this province. Rkefton, November 3. At a meeting of the Harbor Board to-day. a letter was read from the Government, slating that they would be prepared to hand over everything connected with the harbor to morrow, the chief habormaster being the only officer placed under the entire control of the Hoard. The financial committee recommend, (| that the Hoard's account, be placed at the Co'onial Ha' k <>n the subject of He bentures that the mortgage foims fur £5°.00" be prepared ; the term of the loan to be thirty years from the first of January next ; the interest and principal payable at Dunedin, Melbourne, Sydney, Adelaide, or London, the
first issue being £20,000. Resolutions gave effect to the committee's recommendation. Mr J. L. Gillies has been appointed treasurer It was stated that the Board has £GO,OOO in hand.

Wellington, November 4. His Excellency the Governor has gone on a visit to the Feilding block, where about 800 immigrants are now settled. He will then visit Mr Fox at Westoe. Dunedin, November 4. At a meeting of the principal ministers and influential citizens, it was decided to form an association to cheapen the cost of funerals, and simplify the present mode of interment. [from our dunedin correspondent.] Dunedtn, November 4. Mr Bathgate decides that none of the second bars come within the meaning of the Licensing Act. There are good accounts from the Arrow, where some claims are making five ounces a day.
