The following contributions were received by the Canterbury Museum during the quarter ending September 30th, 1874 : Hon William Robinson, M.L.A.—Hen pheasant (Phasianus colchicus), assuming male plumage. Mr G. Lambert, Akaroa—Whalebone of Neobahena specimen of Naultinus elegans (green lizard). The Rev G. J. Cholmondeley, Opawa— Maori sinker, made of dolerite, found at Opawa. Master L. Hawkes—Three copper coins. The Rev Charles Fraser, F.G.S. —Four specimens of corals (Corallium nobile, Fungia repaDda, Meandrina labyrinthica, and Seriatopore hystrix), specimens of Unio Aucklandicus, fresh water mussel, in spirits of wine. Mr H. Thomson (Messrs Coates and Co)— Five specimens of Atlantic submarine telegraph cables. Mr Rutherford, Alford Forest—Spotted rail (Ortygometra affinis). Mr W. Pender, Zetland Arms—Stone implement (kurutu), found at the Thames. Mr W.J. Miller, East town belt—Specimen of Trachurus trachurus, horse mackerel, from Brighton beach. Mr L. C. Williams, Teviotdale—Young wild pig (hisus naturse). Mr Reg. Foster, Craigieburn—Specimen of pitch coal, from a newly discovered seam 4ft Gin thick. Mrs Rogers—Saw of Pristiszyson (sawfish), from Ceylon. Acclimatisation Society One leveret (Lepus timidus). Mr George Dunnage—Specimen of Athene Nov. Zeal, (morepork). Mr F. Chamberlin, England—Collection of English fossils. Mr George Wright, Ben More station Maori adze, made of Palla, found at the base of Ohou range. Mr Jos. Day, p umner—Specimen of Lamprey (Geotria chilensis). Mr James Field, Templeton—Specimen of Devonshire marble, polished, obtained from old London bridge ; specimen of clay iron ore, Isle of Wight. Mr John Grigg, Longbeach station—Specimen of Leptocephalus longirostris, Glasseel, thrown up at Longbeach. Mr William Wilson—Portions of a Maori skeleton (male), and of a kiwi (Apteryx) found in a fissure reached by the Ashley auarries ; specimens of Pectus Triphookii and of Brissus. Mrs G. A. E. Ross—Specimens of Phronima Novce Zeal. (Powell) Glasscrab, found ou the Sumner beach. Captain Leraaistre, of theVictorine —Complete steel armor of a Japanese warrior, specimen of Limulus longispinus (kiug crab of the Mauritius), collection of corals and shells.
