Both representatives have resolved to continue joint action re mail service. The Pacific and Sydney Marine Insurance Companies lose £SOOO each by the loss of the Kingsbridge. Arrived—Amateur, from Titnaru. Mr Yogel is still in Victoria. New wool is arriving slowly. Only one cargo has yet cleared. INTERPROYINCIAL. Auckland. October 24. The schooner Fiery Cross has arrived, 26 days from Napier. She left on the 28th of September. She had gales from the start. On the 6th instant, a tremendous squall drove the vessel on her beam ends. The next day the rudder was carried away, the stock breaking in half. The vessel lay helpless in a cross sea, but managed to heave-to for ten days. She drifted leewards at three knots per hour on an average. Made several attempts to ship a new rudder, but did not succeed. On the gale abating, about the 17th, ringed a temporary steering apparatus. By this time the food had run short, although the crew had been on short allowance nearly all the time. She passed a full rigged ship, but could not make her answer signals. On the 18th spoke the East Lothian and obtained provisions. The men and officers are weak and exhausted, and the vessel is much strained. She bore up for Auckland, not being able to beat up to Tairua, where she was bound. The discussion on ritualism is settled, by the withdrawal of all motions, and the matter is left in the hands of the Bishop, who promised attention to any appeal from a congregation. Archdeacon Maunsell said turning to the east was all the ritualistic practice he knew in Auckland. The prospectus of a co-operative Meat Supply Company is issued, with a capital of four thousand. Nelson, October 24. Mr Shepherd addressed his constituents last night. Strong resolutions were passed in favor of the abolition of the provinces, and also a vote of confidence in Mr Shepherd. Timaru, Oct 24. Mr John William White, of Timaru, is gazetted Crown Solicitor for the Canterbury judicial district. The show on Wednesday promises to be a great success. In ’sheep there are 187 entries, in horses 96, and other entries 140. Dunedin, October 24. Yire sails for Wellington to-night. The Jessie Readman, which arrived at the Heads yesterday, has been blown off again, and has not put in an appearance.’

The meeting was poorly attended, the proceedings unusually tame and quiet, and no questions were asked. The Press Club is now fairly started here. At a meeting on Saturday night it was stated that there were already nearly stxty members, and the meeting proceeded to the election of officers. Mr Bell, of the Evening Star, was elected president. The Press Dramatic Club give a performance on November the 9th, in aid of tlxe Hattie Shepherd memorial fund.

(FROM OUR DUNEDIN CORRESPONDENT) Dunedin, October 24. The Star of the East, at last crushing obtained 168 ounces from 154 tons.

Mr Manders, an advocate for provincial abolition, has been elected to the Provincial Council, as member for Queenstown, without opposition.
