CHRISTCHURCH.
Friday, Oct 9. [Before G. L. Lee, Esq., J.P.] DRUNK AND DISORDERLY. Wm. Caldwell, for drunkenness, was fined 10s ; John O’Brien, for a similar offence and committing an act of exposure in the public streets, was fined 40s, or 96 hours. H. L. Worsley, for drunkenness, was fined 10s; and Peter M‘Donald 20s, or 48 hours. LYTTELTON. Thursday, October 8. [Before W. Donald, Esq., R.M., and H. R. Webb, Esq. J.P.J DRUNK AND FIGHTING IN STREETS, William Nailor, arrested by Constable Maguire, and charged with the above offence, was fined 10s, which was paid, ENTERING A RAILWAY CARRIAGE WHILE IN MOTION, Robert Foyson, arrested by Constable Emson, was charged with this offence. Mr Bradly, acting station master at Lyttelton, stated that as the [ten minutes past two train was leaving, the accused jumped in through the window. He immediately stopped the train, and gave accused into custody. Accused stated that the train was not in motion when he got in at the window. He did not know that he was doing wrong. Fined 10s. CIVIL CASES, Baker v Allan ; claim £9 for rent of house : Mr H. N. Nalder for defence; after a lengthy hearing, the Bench gave judgment for £6 19s, and 13s costs, Baker v Allan ; claim £4 9s 9d for damage done to house, &c, during time occupied by defendant ; Mr Nalder for defendant ; after the evidence brought forward by both sides, the Bench gave judgment for the defendant, solicitor’s fee £1 Is, witness, 2s 6d.
