MAGISTRATES' COURTS.

CHRISTCHURCH. Monday, September 21. [Before C. C. Bowen, Esq., R.M.] DRUNK AND INDECENT EXPOSURE. W. Wells, for this offence, was sentenced to fourteen days’ imprisonment, with hard labor. DRUNK AND DISORDERLY. Robert Long, for drunkenness, was fined 10s and cab-hire ; Matthew Smith, for being drunk and resisting the police, was fined 10s, or twenty-four hours ; Hamilton Shaw, an old offender, charged with drunkenness, was sentenced to fourteen days’ imprisonment, with hard labor; W, Taylor was fined 10s, and Edward Burrows 10s, or twenty-four hours. ILLEGALLY ON PREMISES. Henry Hassett was arrested by sergeant Kennedy for being found illegally in Morgan’s stables, near Collins’ Hotel, at twenty minutes past one o’clock this morning. Sergeant Kennedy stated that the accused was given into his custody at that hour by Mr Morgan. The accused said he had been drinking lately, and did not remember going into the stables. He had been working on the Press until a short time ago. Mr Morgan did not appear when called, and his Worship told the accused that this was a fortunate circumstance for him. It was shameful that a man who could earn good wages should be found in such a position. He would be fined 20s or forty-eight hours in default, but if brought before him again on a similar charge he would be dealt with as illegally on premises. EXTENSION OP LICENSE. An extension of license for Thursday night, was granted to Mr Hopkins, of New Brighton Hotel: LYTTELTON. Saturday, September 19, DRUNKENNESS. Charles William Mcßwan, on remand charged with the above offence, was furthe remanded until Tuesday next for rnedica 1 treatment. DRUNKENNESS ON RAILWAY PLATFORM. George Jenkins, arrested by Constable McGorman, was charged with this offence. From the evidence of Mr Hilher, of the railway department, and the arresting constable, it appeared that the prisoner was annoying the passengers on the platform, and the Bench inflicted a fine of 10s.
