No fat cattle were yarded, a few half fat steers sold privately for butchers' use, prime beef readily saleable at 3d. Fat sheep in ample supply, and rates easier for the buyer; prime mutton 3»d to 4d per lb. On Thursday, at the Hereford street sale rooms, sold a consignment of imported canaries, parrots, parroquets, zebra finches, carrier pigeons, Spanish, Dorking, and game fowls, gold fish, a monkey, &c. The sale attracted a numerous company, and satisfactory prices were obtai.icd. On Friday, at the same rooms, held a sale of superior furniture, hats and caps, boots, hosiery, books, stationery, &c. This sale was also well attended, and a considerable amount of business transacted at fair rate. 3. Mr Deßourbcl reports the share market as follows: Buyers:—National Insurance, 20s 6d; National Bank, 68s; South British. 52s 6d; Shipping Company. 15s ; Standard Insurance, lis. Sellers:— National Insurance, 30s 6d ; National Bank, 10s ; South British, 535; Shipping Company, 20s; Standard Insurance, 12s, Colonial Bank, 15s. Messrs J. T. Ford and Co report on the live stock market for the week ending Friday, the 11 th of September, as under Over 2000 sheep, and about 140 head of cattle, were yarded on Wednesday last. The cattle consisted chiefly of fresh-conditioned station stores —a mixed lot. The supply oi sheep was far in excess of the demand, and in some instances reductions were submitted to in order to effect sales. We do not quote any actual fall in values, and the drop we mention was only for the day. We sold on account of Messrs Fitzroy and Acland, a line of cross-breds at 21s each, the top price for the day. Also, a line of fat merino wethers at lss-6d each, and 500 «oo<l store merino wethers on account of Mr J. Eisely, at 8s 9d each. In cattle, our sales were, 16 head of medium quality steers, on account.of Mr Keith, at £7 7s 6d each ; 51 head on account of Westertield station, at £3l2s 6d each. There is an increasing demand for store sheep, and with the prospect of an early and abundant spring before us, we expect an advance in this class of stock. At present prices asked for |store merino wethers, we see nothing that will pay the grazier equal to them, say betweeu this date and the 15th of December, but of course they must be sound from foot rot and in fresh condition, and purchased at say, 9s each, In station property we can report the sale of the Lake's run, 20,000 acres, 8500 sheep, for the sum of £BSOO. We have also other runs under offer at above values and hope to be able report sales shortly.
